Trip to World of Mother Nature

Detailed Itinerary:

Trip to World of Mother Nature Day 1: Arrival to Colombo – Kandy
An arrival to Colombo International Airport, you will be taken to Kandy via Pinnawella. Our first stopover will be at Pinnawalla, an Elephant Orphanage, created by Sri Lankan government in 1972. This rehabilitation centre is for abandoned and orphaned elephants. Here, you will get to see baby elephants are fed and bathed by the orphanage authorities. At Pinnawalla, we will have our lunch.

Thereafter, we will proceed towards Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lankan rulers. This hill capital is located at height of 1600 ft above the sea level and surrounded by lush mountains, and Mahaweli River. After reaching Kandy, we will check-in to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kandy – Trekking
After breakfast at Kandy hotel, you will be drop at a point from where you will start walking for 700 year old Western Shrines of Kandy. This 3km long walk will take you to traditional Kandyan Villages, where you can behold their lifestyle and culture. After this village, we will proceed to Gadaladeniya Rock temple, which is just 1 ½ hours away. Thereafter, we will visit Lankathilake Blue Temple. We will arrange a picnic lunch for you nearby to this temple amidst serene environment. Again we will start our sightseeing trip to this village and visit Embekke Wooden Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Kataragama or Skanda and beautified with more than 100 carved wooden pillars.

In the evening, we will return to hotel for dinner and for a good sleep.

Day 3: Kandy – Knuckles
Day 3 of our tour package stores an exciting trekking expedition to Knuckles mountain range. This mountain rage consists of Knuckles massif, the Knuckles range and the Knuckles peaks. Here, in this mountain range nearly 35 peaks are available which more than 3000 ft in height.

We will arrange your night stay at the mountain cottage in the nearby village.

Day 4: Knuckles – Trekking
Next morning after having some light breakfast, we will begin our trekking expedition from Corbett’s Gap to Meemure, Yakagala (Devil’s rock), Nitre Cave in Knucles mountain range. It’s a hard trekking route which wills take at least 8 to 9 hours to reach the main destination. By evening, we will be back to our cottage for dinner and a good sleep.

Day 5: Knuckles – Randenigala
Get ready for Randenigala, our next destination. During our journey to Randenigala , we will pass the precipitous 17 hairpin bends and terraced paddy fields of Minipie. On reaching Randenigala, at first we will check-in to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Randenigala
Randenigala is famed for its indigenous inhabitants known as Veddas or Wanniyela Aettho means “forest dwellers”. They are the direct descendent of Island’s original Neolithic Community, dated back to 14, 000 BC and may be much earlier to this. We will also visit the Mahiyanganaya dagaba. It’s a classic Buddhist shrine and built over a hair relic of Lord Buddha given to God Saman, a guardian deity of Sri Lanka. A shrine dedicated to God Saman is also available here.

Afterwards, you will be taken to Sorabora Wewa, an ancient irrigation tank which was believed to be created by Dutugemmu’s betel supplier around 162 BCE and still in use. Return to Randenigala hotel for night stay.

Day 7: Randenigala – Badulla – Ella
Day 7 of our tour package will enable us to witness the serene countryside, lush paddy fields, tranquil lakes and huge reservoirs and mountain passes. After passing all these scenic views, we will arrive at the scenic village of Karandagolla, Ella. Here, we will spend our night.

Day 8: Ella –Trekking
Next morning, we will begin our trekking for Meedeniya. It is a self-sufficient village inside the lush canopy which is only accessible by Thawalama (Bullock Cart). It is 5km trail that will pass through paddy fields, a 3km walk through forest, a hill. We will have our picnic breakfast on the way to this village. We will return to resort at Ella following the same route. Afternoon will be at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.

Day 9: Ella – Rekawa
Our next destination will be Rekawa. It is a beautiful beach which is famous for its “turtle conservation. “ On arrival to Rekawa, we will first check-in to a beach side hotel and have some refreshments. Afterwards, you will be taken to an “Eco Team Turtle Conservation Camp.” Here, members of Eco team will arrange “Turtle Watching Programme” for you. In the afternoon, you will be transported to campsite where you will enjoy one full day amidst the natural ambiance of beach.

Day 10: Rekawa – Unawatuna
After breakfast, get ready for Unawatuna village. Following the southern coastline, we will reach the Unawatuna, where we will spend some leisure moments at one of the top beaches. Overnight stay will be at a Unawatuna hotel.

Day 11: Unawatuna – Kalwana
Day 11 on the way to Kalwana, we will stop at Galle to visit the Dutch Fort of Galle. It is a World Heritage Site. This fort still houses several government buildings and residences. Thereafter, we will proceed to Kalwana. Here, we will stay for one night.

Day 12: Kalwana – Sinharaja
Today you will visit the Sinharaja Rainforest, which means ‘Lion King’ in Sinhala. It is the last remaining virgin rainforest in Sri Lanka. It is also a Biosphere Reserve and designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its treasure troves of endemic species. It houses nearly 50% of Sri lanka’s endemic trees, insects, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, & butterflies. This place is also famous as birdwatcher’s paradise. In the evening, after a thrilling jungle safari, we will be return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13: Kalwana – Kitulagaya
On Day 13, we will leave for Kitulgala for an exciting flat water rafting expedition. The route for white water rafting covers only 3 km distance, nearly 1 hour duration. Thereafter, we will enjoy our lunch at Kitulagaya Resthouse, which has a colonial touch in it. It is one of the best places to enjoy the serene beauty of Mother Nature. In the late afternoon, we will visit Kelani Forest Reserve for bird watching and return to hotel after dusk.

Day 14: Departure from Colombo
It’s the last day of our tour package. You will be transported to Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo for your onward journey.
