Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival to Colombo
Your heritage and wildlife tour to Sri Lanka will begin from Colombo. On
arrival to Colombo Airport, our representatives will greet you and escort
you to your desired hotel. At first we will check-in to the hotel and have
some refreshments. We will spend one whole day here in Colombo, visiting
various tourist spots of the city such as the Fort, Pettah, Galle Face
Green, Slave Island, Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, the National Museum, and the
Viharamahadevi Park etc.
Return to hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Annuradhapura (via Pinnawela)
Next morning after an early breakfast, we will proceed for Annuradhapura
via Pinnawela. We will spend some time at Pinnewala, which is famed for its
Elephant Orphanage. It is a rehabilitation centre for abandon and orphan
elephants, which was built by Sri Lanka government. After visiting
Pinnawela, we will continue our drive towards Annuradhapura.
On reaching Annuradhapura, we will first check-in to hotel for overnight
stay. Annuradhapura is the birthplace of Sinhala civilization and one of the
largest archeological sites of world. This place was settled by Annuradha, a
follower of Prince Vijaya. Later on it was made capital by King Pandu
kabhaya about 380 BCE.
Day 3: Annuradhapura
On day 3, we will spend entire day in visiting the cultural sites of
Anuradhapura. It is considered as the greatest monastic city of the ancient
world. It has some ancient Buddha statueswhich displays the influence of
Greek art and also have some largest stupas of world. Return to hotel in the
evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Polannaruwa - Girithale
After breakfast, we will leave for Polannaruwa and visit its cultural
sites. From 11th to 13th century AD, this ancient city was the capital of
Sri Lanka. Ruins of bygone era which includes a number of monastic complexes
with stupas, image houses and dwelling cells of monks, refectories, assembly
halls etc.
Dinner and overnight stay at Girithale.
Day 5: Girithale - Sigiriya - Kandy
On day 5, after early breakfast we will visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Before King Kasyapa who built his kingdom here, Sigiriya rock was a
monastery. The most famous things of these rocks are the frescos of maidens
of heaven . Thereafter, we will proceed for Kandy. En-route, we will
stop at spice garden for lunch.
Kandy is the last and most popular kingdom of Sri Lanka. It was captured by
British army in 1815 and ruled the place for almost 133 years. On reaching
Kandy, we will check-in to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
Next morning, we will begin our journey for Nuwara Eliya. It is a hill
resort, located at an altitude of 6200 ft and blessed with soft English
spring climate. It is very much like countryside of England and dotted with
several buildings of British architecture. Dinner and overnight stay at one
of the finest Eco Hotel of the town.
Day 7: Nuwara Eliya Yala Katahragama
After breakfast, we will proceed for Yala. Lunch at Tissamaharama. After
lunch we will do a jeep safari at Yala National Park to peep into the wild
world of animals and plants. Located in the Hambantota and Monaragala dist.,
this Yala National Park is spread across an area of 121000 ha. v Dinner and
overnight stay at Katharagama.
Day 8 - Katahragama Bentota
After breakfast depart for Bentota, which is a beach resort. This place is
ideal to engage oneself in various kinds of adventure sports such as
snorkeling, diving, sailing,water surfing, and deep sea fishing. Here, you
can even enjoy an Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment at Bentota Aida Ayurveda Hotel.
Dinner & Overnight stay at Bentota.
Day 09 Bentota
Day 9 is the last day of tour package. From Bentota, we will escort you to
Colombo airport for your next destination.
