Detailed Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival to Colombo & transfer to Negambo
On arrival to Bandaranayake International Airport, honeymooners will be
welcomed by our representatives. We will then transfer you to Negombo beach,
a paradise for honeymooners. Here, we arrange your stay in a boutique hotel
which specializes in honeymoon accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay in
this hotel.
Day 02: Negambo /Pinnawala/Sigiriya
On day 2, after breakfast we leave for Sigiriya. En-route stops at Elephant
Orphanage at Pinnawala for some time. In the afternoon, a tour of Sigiriya.
Here, we will climb the amazing rock of Sigiriya with its formidable palace
fortress built in 5th century and enjoy the panoramic views over the once
magnificent royal pool, the throne, ruins of the majestic palace, walk ways
and the gardens. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 03: Sigiriya / Dambulla / Kandy
Next morning, we will leave for Kandy, the last capital of Sinhala rulers.
En-route visit Dambulla Cave Temple. This rock temple has some frescoes
which are over 2000 years old and a sculpture of Buddha (14 m in height)
carved out of rock. In the afternoon, we will visit Kandy, a hilly town
located at a height of 488m above sea level. The main attraction of this
city is its Temple of Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. Kandy is also a fave
destination for shopaholics. From here, you can purchase souvenirs in wood,
copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms,
batiks, jewellery . In the evening we will return to our hotel. Our hotel
staff will arrange a performance of traditional Kandyan Dancers and drummers
for us. Afterwards, we will have our dinner.
Day 04: Kandy / Peradeniya / Nuwara-Eliya
On day 4, we will proceed for our next destination Nuwara-Eliya, en-route
Peradiniya Botanical Garden. Peradiniya Botanical Garden is an amazing place
to spend some time. It is bedecked with numerous varieties of plant species
as well as Tea Plantation. In the afternoon a city tour of Nuwara-Eliya. It
is a perfect replica of English countryside, with homes in styles from
Georgian to Queen Anne. This hill resort is a perfect destination for
honeymooning. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church and the famous
golf course and beautiful parks given the place an air of real nostalgia. In
the evening after a hectic day of sightseeing, return to Nuwara-Eliya forest
lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 05: Nuwara-Eliya / Hakgala Botanical Gardens / Divurumpola Temple /
Ella
Get ready for short trip to Ella, via Hakgala Botanical Gardens. This
botanical garden has a historical significance related to Ramayana epic.
According to legend, it is believed that this is the exotic pleasure garden
where King Ravana kept the depressed Sita, insisting that she marries him.
Even here Sita met Hanuman, who brought her Ramas ring with the news
that Rama was looking for her.
Thereafter, we proceed to Welimada and visit the Divurumpola Temple. This
place is still revered by thousands as Sita performed her Agni Pariksha
(proving her chastity) to her husband Rama. Continuing the practice for
thousands of years, villagers still pledge their fidelity or take oaths
there. From time immemorial, newly wedded couples come here to worship and
seek blessings for their marriage life. In the afternoon, we will visit
Ella. It is the highest village surrounded by hills perfect for walks
through tea plantations to temples and waterfalls. Ravana Ella Cave
available in this area is another alluring site for honeymooning couples. By
evening, we will return to Nuwara-Eliya for dinner and a good sleep.
Day 06: Nuwara-Eliya / Kitulagala / Negombo
Next morning, we will leave for Negombo via Kitulgala. At first we will
stop at Horton Plains, close to Nuwara Eliya. It is the highest and most
isolated plateau of Sri Lanka. If you are ardent nature lover than you will
surely love this place. This place is home to several species of mammals and
birds. Bridle paths will take you to the precipice known as Worlds End
a sheer drop of 1,050 meters. Dinner and overnight at Villa Araliya.
Day 07: Negombo / Airport
After breakfast, pack your luggage as we have to check-out before 12 noon.
Its the last day of our tour package. Transfer to airport for your
onward journey.
