Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival to Colombo and transfer to Sigiriya
On arrival to Bandaranaike International Airport at Colombo, our
representatives will greet you and transfer you to Sigiriya, which is just
169 km from Colombo. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Sigiriya hotel.
Day 2: Polannaruwa
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we will leave for Polannaruwa for a
sightseeing tour. It served as the capital of Sri Lanka during 11th to 13th
century A.D. This city was fortified with three concentric walls, pious
temples, beautified with parks and gardens. We will guide you to the ruins
of Audience Hall, Council Chamber, the Royal Citadel, the Kumara Pokuna
(pond), the Royal Pavilion, S iva Dewale, the Thuparama, the Vatadage Relic
House, Kiriwehera, Hatadage, Gal Vihare, with most impressive sculptures &
stone carvings.
Return to hotel for lunch. In the late afternoon, we will do trekking up to
Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This fort was built by King Kassapa in the 5th
century AD and famous for its frescos of the Heavenly maidens
which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock. In the evening, return to
Sigiriya hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Kandy
On day 3, after breakfast, we will proceed for Kandy. We will stop at
Dabulla Rock Cave Temple for some time and enjoy its beauty. Thereafter
continue drive to Kandy. En-route, we will visit the spice garden at Matale.
On reaching Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lankan kings we will first check
in to hotel and have some refreshments. In afternoon, we will proceed
for sightseeing tour of Kandy and visit market and Art and Crafts showroom.
Then we will drive along the Upper lake road to get an alluring view of the
Kandy Lake and its environs and drive past the picturesque University
premises.
In the evening, we will witness a cultural pageant highlighting various up
country dance forms, including a fire walking display. Thereafter, return to
hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Return to Colombo
Day 4 is the last day of our tour package. After breakfast, we will proceed
for Peradeniya Botanical Garden, which is famed for its tropical exotic and
indigenous flora and Orchid House. Afterwards, we will leave for Pinnawela,
an orphanage for abandoned and orphaned elephants. Here, we will spend some
time and observe feeding of baby elephants. We will have our lunch here at
Pinnawela.
At last, we will reach Colombo. From here, you can proceed for your journey
to onward destination.
